Frequently Asked Questions

How secure are the exported vault files?

Vault exports are secured using AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by governments and financial institutions. The security of your vault depends on the strength of your vault password, so we recommend using a strong, unique password that you store in a secure location.

Can I import from other password managers?

Yes, Password.app supports importing from CSV files exported from most popular password managers. The import tool will guide you through mapping the fields from your export to the correct format for Password.app.

What happens if I forget my vault password?

There is no way to recover the contents of an encrypted vault file if you forget the password. This is a security feature that ensures only you can access your data. We strongly recommend storing your vault password in a secure location separate from the vault file itself.

Can I schedule automatic backups?

Currently, vault exports must be initiated manually. This ensures you maintain full control over when and where your data is exported. We recommend setting a regular schedule for creating backups, such as weekly or after adding important new passwords.
