Password Vault

Store and organize your passwords securely in our local vault. Create custom groups, mark favorites, and access your passwords quickly with client-side encryption.

Key Features

Client-Side Encryption

All your passwords are encrypted locally on your device before being stored. Your vault is secured with AES-256 encryption, ensuring that even if someone gains access to your device, they cannot view your passwords without your master password.

Custom Organization

Create custom groups and subgroups to organize your passwords in a way that makes sense to you. Categorize by purpose (work, personal, finance), by website type, or any system that helps you find passwords quickly when needed.

Favorites and Quick Access

Mark your most-used passwords as favorites for quick access. The vault's smart sorting also places recently used passwords at the top, making it easy to find the passwords you use most frequently.

Local Storage

Your password vault is stored locally in your browser using secure, encrypted storage. This means you maintain complete control over your data, and your passwords remain accessible even when you're offline.

How It Works

1. Create Your Vault

Set up your vault with a strong master password that encrypts all your stored passwords

2. Add Passwords

Add passwords manually or use our generator to create strong new passwords

3. Organize and Access

Create groups, mark favorites, and quickly find the passwords you need

Security First Design

Your vault is secured with AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by governments and financial institutions. The encryption and decryption happen entirely on your device, meaning your unencrypted passwords never leave your browser.

Your master password is never stored or transmitted - it exists only in your memory and temporarily in your browser while the vault is unlocked. This zero-knowledge approach ensures that even we cannot access your passwords.

Vault Features

Custom Fields

In addition to the standard username and password fields, you can add custom fields to each entry. Store security questions, PIN codes, recovery keys, or any other information you need to keep secure.

Password Strength Analysis

Each password in your vault is analyzed for strength, helping you identify weak passwords that should be updated. The analysis considers length, character variety, and common patterns.

Auto-Clear Clipboard

When you copy a password to your clipboard, Password.app can automatically clear it after a set time period. This prevents sensitive information from lingering in your clipboard.

Search and Filtering

Quickly find the password you need with powerful search and filtering options. Search across all fields, filter by group, or view only your favorite or recently used passwords.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I forget my master password?

Because of our zero-knowledge security model, we cannot recover your master password if you forget it. However, you can set up an optional recovery method when creating your vault, such as a recovery phrase or security questions.

Can I access my vault on multiple devices?

Yes, you can export your encrypted vault and import it on other devices. For even easier multi-device access, you can enable optional cloud synchronization, which keeps your encrypted vault in sync across all your devices.

Is there a limit to how many passwords I can store?

No, there is no practical limit to the number of passwords you can store in your vault. The storage size is minimal since passwords are text-based, and modern browsers provide ample local storage space.

How can I back up my password vault?

Password.app provides easy export options for backing up your encrypted vault. You can save the backup file to your local device, a USB drive, or a cloud storage service of your choice. We recommend creating regular backups for peace of mind.
