Password Decryption

Decrypt shared passwords securely with our detection system. Enter the encrypted password and unlock key to reveal the original password.

How It Works

1

Receive an Encrypted Password

When someone shares an encrypted password with you, you'll receive both the encrypted password string and a separate unlock key.

2

Enter Both Values

Paste the encrypted password and the unlock key into the respective fields on our decryption page.

3

Automatic Algorithm Detection

Our system automatically detects the encryption algorithm used (AES-GCM, AES-CBC, or AES-CTR) and the key length.

4

Reveal the Password

Click "Decrypt" to reveal the original password. All decryption happens locally on your device for maximum security.

Security Features

Client-Side Decryption

All decryption happens locally in your browser. The encrypted password, unlock key, and decrypted result never leave your device or get sent to our servers.

Two-Factor Security

Requiring both the encrypted password and the separate unlock key ensures that even if someone intercepts one part, they cannot access the original password.

Automatic Clearing

For added security, the decrypted password is automatically cleared from the page after 60 seconds, or immediately when you close the tab.

Algorithm Flexibility

Our system supports multiple encryption algorithms and key lengths, ensuring compatibility with passwords encrypted using any of Password.app's custom encryption options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I only have the encrypted password but not the unlock key?

Both the encrypted password and the unlock key are required for decryption. This two-part approach is a security feature that ensures only the intended recipient can access the original password. If you're missing the unlock key, you'll need to contact the person who shared the password with you.

Is there a limit to how many times I can decrypt a password?

No, you can decrypt the same password as many times as needed, as long as you have both the encrypted password and the unlock key. Since all decryption happens locally on your device, there are no server-side limitations.

Can I save the decrypted password to my vault?

Yes, after decrypting a password, you'll have the option to save it directly to your Password.app vault for future use. This is a convenient way to store passwords that have been shared with you.
